Born in North Carolina, the third of twelve children,
John Trumpbour studied History at Stanford and received a Ph.D. from
Harvard University. He is the editor of The Dividing Rhine: Politics
and Society in Contemporary France and Germany (Oxford: Berg, 1989)
and author of Selling Hollywood to the World: U.S. and European Struggles
for Mastery of the Global Film Industry, 1920-1950 (New York: Cambridge
University Press, 2002). He recently co-wrote an essay with Elaine Bernard,
Executive Director of the Harvard Trade Union Program, on Latino workers
for Latinos Remaking America, an edited book published by University
of California Press.
