The Program on the Legal Profession aims to contribute to the legal profession on multiple fronts. It is engaged in several major multi-year research projects that are being completed through its innovative Center on Lawyers and the Professional Services Industry. It also pursues research, scholarship and educational initiatives in the areas of diversity, legal careers, globalization and professionalism.
We plan to begin work on a number of new initiatives in the upcoming year, including:
- An edited volume examining how the structure of the market for legal services affects developments in corporate activity or corporate law;
- A monograph by Professor Wilkins examining the emergence of a new “Joint Venture” model of the attorney/client relationship in connection with a lecture he will give at the University of London in its Contemporary Legal Problems Series in April 2008;
- A study by Professor Nanda and Dan DiPietro of Citigroup on identifying the factors that lead to superior performance in law firms; and
- A large empirical project with Professor William Alford of Harvard Law School’s East Asian Studies Program and others on the developing market for corporate legal services in Asia
