This marquee conference, sponsored by Harvard Law School’s Program on the Legal Profession and the Indian School of Business in cooperation with the Centre for Policy Research, will focus on the intersection between business and law in India’s corporate sector, with an eye to demand, regulation and evolution of professional services in the coming decade. The conference will inform and extend the critical dialogue begun last year in New Delhi and Cambridge with respect to Harvard Law School’s multidisciplinary global research collaboration on Globalization, Lawyers, and Emerging Economies (GLEE). This unprecedented research initiative brings together leading scholars, policymakers and practitioners from around the world to examine how economic liberalization and other forces of globalization are reshaping the corporate legal profession in important emerging economies such as India, China, and Brazil—and how these changes are in turn reshaping legal education, the delivery of legal services, and the rule of law.
