Professor LI Xueyao of KoGuan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University will describe and analyze how Chinese judicial reforms from the mid-1990s through 2008 have resulted in a retreat from legal formalism and increased professionalization of the legal profession in China, supporting a policy of “Weiwen” (keeping stability). Dr. Lee, an Associate Professor at KoGuan Law School, earned a Ph.D. degree and a masters degree from Zhejiang University. He is currently a visiting scholar at Yale Law School, where he is conducting research on issues related to the development of the legal profession and legal ethics.
