This chapter reproduces the Supreme Court's most significant opinions dealing with the Confrontation Clause. We analyze these cases in search of a comprehensive and workable confrontation theory. The cases also provide an excellent basis for reviewing the various federal rules dealing with prior statements of witnesses. The first review question in each case is: How would this case have been handled under the federal rules?
