Prison Legal Assistance Project - paid position for summer 2007
The Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project (PLAP) has one PAID position open for summer 2007. It is a 10- week position (May 28-August 3), and the salary will be $460/week. We will match work-study funds. This job satisfies the pro bono requirement.
Summer student attorneys at PLAP represent inmates at disciplinary hearings and parole hearings, and assist inmates with other issues such as lost property, outstanding warrants, or medical problems. This is a GREAT experience: you pick the cases on which you work, and you work on them from start to finish. This is a great way to learn valuable skills, including interviewing clients, arguing cases, and writing appeals when necessary.
No prior experience or coursework is necessary. We are looking for dedicated individuals who have a strong interest in working closely with clients, managing their own cases, and are not afraid to learn. A DRIVER'S LICENSE IS REQUIRED.
If you are interested, PLEASE SUBMIT A RESUME TO PAMELA CAMERON IN GANNETT 100 (495-3969). We will then contact applicants for interviews. Interviews will be fairly informal and will last for approximately 30 minutes. Please call the PLAP office if you have further questions regarding our program.
