May 12th, through May 18th, 2007

Northwest Corner

• Beginning Saturday 5/12/07 and continuing throughout the week the contractor will continue to mobilize their equipment and materials to prepare the houses to be lifted off of their current foundations. This activity will occur within the site. Saturday work will begin at 9am in accordance with the City of Cambridge Construction Ordinance.
• Throughout the week the geotechnical contractor will be performing a multiple drilling operation to continue their geotechnical investigation. Drilling will occur in the following areas: Jarvis St, east and west of Pound Hall, the lower level of the Everett St. garage, and on the north side of Everett St. Police details will be present to ensure pedestrian safety.
• The layout for the new utility services will commence throughout the site. This activity will cause no impact to vehicular and area pedestrian traffic.

Beginning Tuesday, May 15th, 2007, two work zones will be established using temporary fencing and protective scrim.

Zone 1 - Located on the east side of the site between Pound Hall and Harkness.

• The removal of plantings will begin.
• Upon the completion of the plant removal steam line work will commence.
• The furniture in the Harkness Quad will be relocated.
• The west entrance of Harkness may be closed during certain activates. Police details will be present and signage will be posted to ensure pedestrian safety.
• The emergency phone will be relocated.

Zone 2 – Located on the west side of Pound Hall where the elevated planter area is currently located.

• The contractor will begin removing the planter and walls to bring the area level with the sidewalk.

Massachusetts Ave.-

• The site contractor will begin separating the utilities from the site by cutting and capping the services in the street.
• During this activity limited parking will be permitted between Jarvis St. and Everett St. Sidewalks will remain open during this time and Police details will be present to ensure pedestrian and vehicular safety.

North Hall

• General Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing investigation will continue throughout the site.
• Minor selective demolition is expected to continue this week.
• Dumpsters may be removed from the site this week.
