The Jamestown Project seeks an experienced program manager/assistant to manage implementation efforts on its Doing Democracy Initiative.  The Jamestown Project, based at the Harvard Law School, is a national, non-profit organization committed to improving democratic participation and civic engagement seeks someone to assist with Doing Democracy, a key initiative that The Jamestown Project will pursue throughout 2008-2009. 

-The Jamestown Project recently launched, Doing Democracy, a nationwide, multigenerational partnership of parents, children, youth, educators, media professionals, scholars, public figures, churches, schools, and civic organizations.  We are seeking a person who can support this work in terms of project management, researching, writing, and compiling resources.

-Job Responsibilities include assisting the Doing Democracy Project Director and other senior staff with goal-setting, implementation, and updating of project work plan.  Identifying and tracking tasks necessary to follow project work plan and meet project objectives.  Maintain project specific budget tracking.  Other activities include but are not limited to: planning, coordinating and implementing activities and special events; Powerpoint Graphics/Presentations; coordination of weekly status reporting; coordination of monthly reporting; evaluation planning and assistance; providing appropriate content for project websites; meeting preparation, minutes, and agendas.
Please provide examples and references of previous project management or assistance and organization capacity.
Position requires experience with MS Office, Outlook, Vision, MS Project; good concise, clear communication skills (oral and written); the ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and to keep project on time and within budget.  Start date is flexible and can continue through the summer and fall.
