Amount of Funding

SPIF awards are based on students working 10 weeks, defined as 350 hours, over the course of the summer. Prorated awards based on fewer hours may be available, however, students must obtain prior approval from the SPIF office. The maximum awards available for working 10 weeks (350 hours) are as follows:

In many cases SPIF awards may be distributed before the 350 hours of work is completed. Failure to meet the 350 hour requirement, for any reason, will result in a student returning the portion of their award for which they were ineligible to the SPIF office. Additionally, if a student receives supplemental funding over the course of the summer which increases their total funding for their SPIF position above the funding cap, they will be required to return a portion of their SPIF award in order to maintain consistency with the funding cap guidelines.

* "on financial aid" is defined as receiving need-based loans certified by the Student Financial Services office, such as Federal Direct/Stafford loans or the equivalent.
