Summer Fellows Program

Summer Fellows

Summer 2007

The Bernard Koteen Office of Public Interest Advising at Harvard Law School seeks five undergraduates to work as Public Interest Fellows for the upcoming summer 2008. The office, staffed by experienced attorneys, counsels hundreds of law students and alumni interested in pursuing public service work. The job offers great exposure to the legal profession, particularly for someone contemplating a career in public interest law.

Hiring will be done on a rolling basis so students are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible!

Project assignments include the following:

Excellent organizational and writing skills are required, along with the ability to self-start on innovative projects. Must be a team player. Enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and a demonstrated interest in public service work are a must! Familiarity with Microsoft Word and PCs is extremely important. Knowledge of Filemaker Pro, Excel, Pagemaker and HTML/Dreamweaver would be very helpful. The summer fellowships are paid positions: $10/hr, 35 hrs/week for ten weeks of work (more if the student's schedule allows). We do not hire first year students over the summer. If we receive an outstanding application from a first year, we will encourage him or her to reapply for a subsequent summer. We occasionally hire rising juniors and the majority of our summer fellows have completed at least three years of their undergraduate program.

To apply, please send a resume and cover letter as soon possible, no later than March 1st. An in person interview will be required. Send materials to Kirsten Bermingham at kbermingham@law.harvard.edu.
