Term Time Internships
The Bernard Koteen Office of Public Interest Advising at Harvard Law School seeks undergraduate interns to assist the office in various capacities.
Our office, staffed by experienced attorneys, counsels hundreds of law students and alumni/ae interested in pursuing public service work. The intern position offers great exposure to the legal profession, particularly for someone contemplating a career in public interest law. Interns have the opportunity to meet experienced attorneys, attend panels and job fairs, and work with engaging students and staff.
Project assignments include the following:
- Organize panels; plan special events; coordinate programs; and assist with visiting Fellows
- Assist with coordination and national distribution of annual Public Interest Job Search Guide and other publications
- Track public interest fellowships and job openings
- Build and maintain public interest resource center and collection of public interest organization profiles
- Perform general office duties, such as fielding phone calls from students, employers, and alumni/ae; photocopying; some data entry; and project and publication support
Excellent organizational and writing skills are required, along with the ability to self-start on innovative projects. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, and interest in public service work are a must! Familiarity with both Microsoft Word and PCs is extremely important; knowledge of FileMaker and InDesign is a plus. This position pays $10/hour. Interns are expected to work approximately 10 hours/week. Sophomores and juniors are especially encouraged to apply.
