The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a national organization with over 400,000 members, has been at the forefront of the fight to secure and protect the rights guaranteed by our Constitution since 1920.

ACLU-HLS, re-established in 2005, works with the national office and Massachusetts affiliate office to advance issues of civil liberties and constitutional law. Currently, chapter members are collaborating with ACLU staff on legal research, legislative advocacy, and community education initiatives. The chapter also aims to promote awareness of civil liberties on the Harvard campus, including such issues as free speech, racial and ethnic justice, religious freedom, women's and reproductive rights, and equality for underrepresented populations. Throughout the year, we host speakers and debates on campus, watch ACLU attorneys argue in court, and participate in community events.
