HLS Armed Forces Association
The Harvard Law School Armed Forces Association is composed of law students who have had previous military service, are on active or reserve duty, or are interested in becoming military judge advocates or otherwise serving in the armed forces. Founded in 1986, the organization's goals are to provide a support group for former, present, and future military personnel and their families, and to establish a foundation for veterans' interests at Harvard Law School. HLS can be a significant change in lifestyle for veterans and their families, and we are here to lend the benefit of our experience in adjusting to the cultural and emotional pressures of the Law School.
To assist in this transition, we sponsor several types of activities, including cookouts, dinners, panel discussions, and whatever else it takes to convince veteran 1Ls that they can enjoy life and still be conscientious law students.
Unlike many groups, we are satisfied with whatever time commitment you choose to make. We are here to provide the best aspect of our common service background--the camaraderie.
