Abigail Adams Society
We are an organization dedicated to building a community where moderate, conservative and libertarian women can comfortably discuss their views and ideals. We are also working to increase the range of dialogue on campus to offer alternatives to modern liberal feminism. To learn more about us, please read our Constitution, which includes a statement of our core beliefs, or read about our founding in the History section.
With over 60 members, we are proud of a number of highly successful speaker events, including
lectures by Christine Stolba, Elizabeth Warren, Christina Hoff Sommers,
Judith Richards Hope '64, and Jennifer Braceras '94. We also hosted
lively debates such as "Is There a Glass Ceiling?" between Diana Furchtgott-Roth,
Chief of Staff, White House Council of Economic Advisers, and
HLS Prof. Christine Jolls and “Innate Gender Differences: Do They Matter in Academia?” between Christina Hoff Sommers of the American Enterprise Institute and HLS Prof. Elizabeth Bartholet.”
Among our regular events are a Ladies' Dessert Party early in the fall, our wine and cheese discussion groups on topics such as
Women Dating Down and
The End of Courtship, and
spectacular social events like our end-of-term parties and our Valentine's Day
party, entitled Ladies in Red.
