Big Brother/Big Sister Organization
The HLS Big Brother/Big Sister Organization is a community service organization that works closely with Big Brothers of Massachusetts Bay and Big Sister Association of Greater Boston matching student volunteers with needy children in the Cambridge/Somerville area. Sibling pairs meet at least once a week to play sports, go to the movies, do homework, bake cookies, or just "hang out" and talk. The program enables student volunteers to build close and lasting relationships with the community, and volunteers provide the leadership and role models so many children need.
There are currently around 20 big brothers and sisters working with children between the ages of 7 and 14. There are many more children who would love to have a big brother or sister.
Big Brother/Big Sister is one of the few extracurricular activities at HLS that is not law-related. Group activities have included a Red Sox baseball game, ice skating and bowling trips, a barbecue/sports day, and the annual Christmas Party and Indoor Whiffle Ball Game. Come join the fun, and give something back to the community and to a less fortunate child.
