Women's Crew
The Harvard Law School Women’s Crew Team is an athletic organization for women who wish to practice and compete in sweep rowing. Our fall season consists of one race - the Head of the Charles Regatta - one of the world's premier rowing events which draws as many as 5,000 participants and a quarter of a million spectators. In the spring, we participate in the annual Graduate School Regatta, hosted by various Harvard Graduate Schools. The Charles River is one of the busiest, as well as one of the most scenic, rowing venues, and a "pick-up" race can always be found!
During the fall and spring semesters, members work out approximately three times per week on the Charles River, depending on interest and availability. Practices are usually scheduled for mornings (8 a.m. – we like to avoid the 6 a.m. shift!), and catching the sunrise behind the Boston skyline can be a truly breathtaking experience. We do schedule afternoon rows, again, depending on availability and interest.
Crew is the consummate non-legal activity--a great outlet for students who wish to take a break from the books, make new friendships, increase physical strength and stamina, and partake in the camaraderie and competition of one of the University's oldest sports.
All experienced (and semi-experienced) rowers and coxswains are welcome. To get involved, come to the team meeting scheduled in the early fall - watch the Adviser for details. HLS Women's Crew is limited only by student interest.
The women’s team is a pretty laid back group of girls who like to get out on the water and get in a bit of exercise. We are not very competitive, but like to get out and practice during the few times Boston has nice weather! The fall season lasts approximately two months, and the spring season lasts 3 weeks to one month. We hope to see many new faces in the fall!
