History of the EWG

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) was initially formed to help Harvard Law School build an environmental law program. Its principal interest was to encourage and facilitate the hiring of a permanent faculty member who would teach environmental law. It is composed of alumni of HLS, current students at the law school, and a few key members of the administration.

EWG Today

The group is celebrating tremendous progress at HLS with the recent hiring of a permanent faculty member. EWG looks forward to building upon this milestone to achieve further growth of the Environmental Law Program. A major source of this development and help can come from HLS alumni themselves through involvement in EWG, speaking and mentoring students, providing networks for new graduates to pursue environmental law, and many other ways. If you are an HLS alumnus/a working or involved in the environmental field please contact els@law.harvard.edu to get involved. ELS also strongly encourages alumni to sign up with HLS’ Alumni Advising Directory as this is our primary resource for staying connected to our growing alumni network.
