    We live in a University that has embraced stem cell research but a government that has reservations. Great Britain has legalized cloning research but our government has reservations. Our members discussed whether this a debate between saving lives and saving souls, or if there is something more.

    "Why I Left The Firm: A Conservative's Thoughts on Principled Practice"
    John Eastman, Professor of Law at Chapman University and Director of the Claremont Institute's Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, came to Harvard and discussed both his personal history at a private firm, and his vision for conservative and libertarian public interest legal activities.

    The Federalist Society held its fall organizational meeting. New and returning members heard our plans for the rest of the sememster, the Student Symposium in February, and learned about opportunities for involvement.

    At our first office Open House of the year, new 1L members were able to see some of our chapter's history and meet the 2L and 3L members while relaxing in one of the only two truly free speech zones on campus (the other being the Journal of Law and Public Policy's office).

    Kick-off Colloquium: "Federalism and the Law"
    One of the core beliefs of the Federalist Society is the importance of maintaining a Federalist government. Our first colloquium brought participants together in discussing whether many of today's most important issues should be resolved at the national level or left for the states to decide.
