Lauren Leahy – President
Dallas, TX
Lauren Leahy was born and raised in Dallas, TX. She graduated from Southern
Methodist
University with degrees in political science, communications and mathematics. Before joining the Bureau, she worked at the International Rescue Committee, assisting refugees and asylees in the resettlement process. She plans to pursue a career in legal services for low-income clients.
Anne Lee – Executive Director
Hanover, MD
Anne Lee, a native of Hanover, MD, graduated from the
University of
Pennsylvania with degrees in history and communication. After college, she worked as an instructor at C2
Cambridge
Learning
Center in MD and as a paralegal at Shea & Gardner/Goodwin Procter in
Washington, D.C. She then spent a year as a volunteer in Atlanta, GA with
Mission Year, a community service organization. She plans to spend this summer at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in
Washington, D.C.
Joel Fifield – Vice President of Practice Standards
Idaho Falls, ID
Joel Fifield grew up in Idaho Falls, ID and attended Brigham Young University, where he got his BA in Media Arts. Before entering law school, he worked as an award-winning documentary filmmaker and marketing director. This summer he will work in the DC office of Sutherland, Asbill, & Brennan.
Sara Lewis – Vice President of Membership
San Juan,
Puerto Rico
Sara Lewis was born in San Juan,
Puerto Rico . She earned an economics degree from
Harvard
College and obtained a language citation in Portuguese. Before entering law school, she worked at three
U.S. law firms as a paralegal and assistant on special projects. Last summer, she worked with law firms in New York and
Mexico as a summer associate. She intends to pursue a career in litigation and may specialize in immigration law.
Keisha Stokes – Secretary/Treasurer
Jackson, MS
Keisha Stokes grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated from
Jackson
State
University with a degree in history. This summer, she plans to split her time between Shearman and
Sterling and the NAACP. In the long term, she hopes to serve as a University President.
Dave Haller – Development Director
Jasper, AR
Dave Haller was born and raised in Jasper, AR. He earned a degree in government from
Harvard
College. After graduating, he joined the Peace Corps and served in
Honduras . After law school, he hopes to serve as a judicial clerk and pursue a career in litigation.
Joe Kennedy – Outreach Director
Cambridge, MA
Joe Kennedy grew up in the Boston area before graduating from
Stanford
University in
California with a major in engineering. Before law school, he worked at the United Nations in New York and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic, where he helped develop an eco-tourism business. He spent last summer designing an anti-poverty program for the Office of the President in
East Timor , and hopes to pursue a career in public service upon graduating from law school.
Eli Schlam – Training Director
Livingston, NJ
Eli Schlam grew up in
Livingston, NJ . As an undergraduate at the
University of
Pennsylvania, he majored in political science and economics and spent a semester studying in
Budapest, Hungary . He also developed a strong interest in the study of nationalism and national conflict. After graduating from Penn, he spent a year at the
London
School of Economics on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, where he received a Master’s of Science in Nationalism and Ethnicity. He then returned to the United States to attend
Harvard
Law
School and has greatly enjoyed his time, especially his work at the Legal Aid Bureau. This summer he will be working at the D.C. litigation firm, Williams and Connolly.
Lindsay Breedlove – Research and Technology Director
Cleveland Heights, OH
Lindsay Breedlove is a native of Cleveland Heights, OH and a graduate of
Georgetown
University. She worked as a paralegal at Phelps Dunbar in New Orleans and at Ulmer & Berne in
Cleveland before coming to law school. This summer, she plans to work in
Washington D.C. at Hogan & Hartson. After graduation, she hopes to clerk for a federal circuit court, spend some time at a firm and then join the Department of Justice in D.C.
Mitch Stromberg – Intake Director
Stateline, NV
Mitch hails from Stateline, NV, a small community on the south
shore of
Lake Tahoe. He attended
Lewis & Clark
College in
Portland, OR , where he majored in International Affairs. After graduation, Mitch monitored residential real estate foreclosures for Wilshire Credit Corporation in
Beaverton, OR while he prepared to attend HLS. This summer Mitch will work at the
Boston office of Ropes & Gray LLP. Mitch plans to work in Boston after graduation, hopefully at Ropes & Gray.
