The Harvard Human Rights Journal presents:
The theme of this year's conference is the United States and Human Rights: Bringing Rights Home. Scheduled to coincide with our journal publication and release, this conference will invite distinguished academics, policy-makers, advocates and field workers in discussion about current domestic human rights issues and abuses. This year's conference features two panels, (1) Recognizing Cruel, Inhuman, and Degrading Treatment in the U.S., and (2) Acknowledging the Right to Livelihood. These panels will investigate issues such as the death penalty, prison conditions, domestic violence, trafficking, healthcare, poverty, the environment, and sexual orientation policy. Short breakout sessions and workshops will follow each panel, allowing participants to engage in in-depth conversations with panelists, practitioners, and activists in a small setting. Finally, we are proud to feature Larry Cox, Executive Director of Amnesty International USA, who will be delivering the keynote address.
