- October 17, 2006: SALDF Introductory Meeting, 5 PM (Hauser 103)
- November 5, 2006 (11 AM): Introduction to the Vegetarian Club Brunch (sponsored by SALDF) at Veggie Planet. While the primary purpose is simply to gather and have fun, this will also be an opportunity to voice your opinions about the group and get involved!
- Saturday and Sunday, December 2 and 3, 2006: Brighten the Holidays for a Shelter Animal! Join SALDF in baking homemade dog biscuits and delivering them to a shelter this weekend! It's an easy way to brighten the holidays for a homeless animal, have fun, and take a much-needed study break! (We'll also walk the dogs and play with the cats!)
- Sunday, February 4 (3 PM): Welcome Back Vegetarian Feast.
- February 23 - 25, 2007: National Animal Advocacy Competitions. The fourth annual National Animal Advocacy Moot Court and Closing Argument Competitions. Cosponsored with the National Center for Animal Law. View photos and read about the event!
- March 30 - April 1, 2007: The Future of Animal Law Conference. Speakers include Stephen Wells, Jeremy Rifkin, and Ben Stein. Panelists will address various topics, including: Is the US ready for a Federal Animal Protection Agency?, Animal Hoarding, Valuable Alliances, Farmed Animals, Around the World, What's New in Litigation and Legislation, and Opportunities in Animal Law. - April 10, 2007 (7 PM): Organizational Dinner to plan next year's SALDF activities and elect new officers.
- April 15, 2007 (5 - 6:30 PM): Admitted Students Reception. SALDF will have a table at the Admitted Students Reception. Please come out and chat with prospective students on the wonder of all things HLS and SALDF. Ropes Gray.
- April 22, 2007: Trip to Farm Animal Sanctuary: Take some time out from studying and visit a farm animal sanctuary! Maple Farm Animal Sanctuary used to be an actual farm, but one day the owners decided to turn their lives around and stop using animals for food. Instead, they created a sanctuary for farm animals who have been neglected or abused. At the sanctuary, the animals can live out their lives in peace and happiness. SALDF is going to take a tour, feed the animals, and help out for a while on April 22. Get out of the library! Come spend an afternoon outside in some spring weather! Transportation will be arranged for you. We'll also be bringing apples and carrots to feed the animals. View photos of the event.
- Thursday, May 3, 2007 (6:30 - 8:30 PM): Doggie Stress Relief. Come show your support for SALDF next Thursday night at 6:30 when we join forces with the Dean of Students and Wellness Program! They will be offering healthy snacks and free massages and we will be offering DOGS to pet! Petting an animal is a PROVEN stress reliever. Take a 15 minute break from finals and top by the Hark Patio to see for yourself, next Thursday night 6:30-8:30.

- October 13 - 15, 2006: 14th Annual Animal Law Conference, Market Revolution: Recognizing Animals' Intrinsic Values at Lewis & Clark Law School
- October 27 - 28, 2006: Shaking the Foundations, The West Coast Conference on Progressive Lawyering (Stanford, CA). This year, there will be a workshop on Protecting Animals Through Legislation.
- November 8, 2006 (6 - 8 PM): The Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act and the Constitution (Los Angeles, CA).
- November 15, 2006 (6:30 - 8:30 PM): Dangerous Dogs or Irresponsible Owners (Brooklyn Law School). This program will provide attendees an understanding of New York's Dangerous Dog laws and the various approaches to addressing dog bites including breed specific legislation and its pitfalls. We urge anyone interested in community safety and responsible dog ownership to attend particularly those involved in law enforcement, government officials, shelter and rescue staff as well as the legal community.
- December 17, 2006 (1 - 4 PM): Perspectives on the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. Keyspeaker Dennis Kucinich will address concerns and misperceptions about AETA, the workings of the legal system, what to expect / avoid when performing advocacy activities, and the potential for challenging the AETA. - February 23 - 25, 2007: Rebellious Lawyering Conference. Includes panel on Factory Farming, Animals, and the Law (Yale Law School).
- March 24, 2007: The National Animal Advocacy Legislative Drafting and Lobbying Competition (The George Washington University Law School, Washington, DC).
- April 3, 2007 (1 PM - 4 PM): Lobby Day For Animals. The event presents an exciting opportunity to meet one on one with your state Senators and Representatives to let them know what animal-related legislation is important to you. The day will begin with a presentation on animal protection bills filed for the 2007-2008 legislative session. After learning about these bills, you will be able to meet with legislators from your district to discuss them. Massachusetts State House, Nurses Hall.
- April 24, 2007 (7:30 PM): Facing Animals: A groundbreaking panel on animals with Martha Nussbaum, Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics, University of Chicago Law School; Christine Korsgaard, Arthur Kingsley Porter Professor of Philosophy, Harvard University; Cass Sunstein, Karl N. Llewellyn Distinguished Service Professor of Jurisprudence, University of Chicago Law School, Department of Political Science, and the College; and Patricia Herzog, Ph.D., author of Conscious and Unconscious: Freud's Dynamic Distinction Reconsidered and co-editor of Defending Diversity: Contemporary Philosophical Perspectives on Pluralism and Multiculturalism.
