The Society for Law, Life
and Religion is dedicated to defending religious values and the sanctity
of human life from conception to natural death. We promote pro-life
and religious values in the Harvard community as well as society at
large. We support the enrichment of public policy according to faith-based
moral convictions and defend religion's place in the public square.
The Society
Law, Life and Religion is a non-sectarian organization comprised primarily
of students at Harvard Law School and members of Harvard's graduate
school community. We work in coordination with undergraduate pro-life
clubs and local civic organizations to promote our mission. SLLR is
an inclusive organization and welcomes members with diverse perspectives
on the proper role of religion in shaping society.
OUR
ACTIVITIES
The Society for Law, Life
and Religion engages in a variety of activities throughout the school
year. These activities include:
ANNUAL
SYMPOSIUM Each year, we host a major symposium on a
topic of current interest, with guest speakers that include leading
scholars and public leaders. Previous symposia have featured speakers
such as Alan Keys, Peter Kreeft, Philip Lawler, Mary Ann Glendon, Ann
Coulter, Father Richard John Neuhaus, Fred Barnes, and Don Feder. Please
visit our events to learn more about this
year's symposium.
LEGAL
RESEARCH We conduct legal research and analysis on behalf
of national pro-life organizations. SLLR members have assisted in drafting
two amicus briefs in the United States Supreme Court cases Stenberg
v. Carhart, concerning partial-birth abortion, and Boy Scouts of America
v. Dale, regarding the Scouts' freedom of association in excluding a
homosexual pride advocate from scout leadership.
FUNDRAISER
Our annual Culture Shock international food fair is a grand production
that is very popular with students on campus and local residents. Over
30 local restaurants usually participate by donating food to the event.
In past years, all proceeds have been donated to Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy
Center, which provides women with alternatives to abortion, and Crossroads
Family Shelter, which has helped over 400 families find emergency housing.

as the annual dinner organized by the Pro-Life Legal Defense Fund, where
we have heard speakers such as Robert George and U.S. Representative
