HLS Target Shooting Club

The HLS Target Shooting Club aims to give HLS students an opportunity to learn and practice shooting firearms in a safe and enjoyable setting. Join us to learn about gun safety and gain hands-on experience with different kinds of guns. Past outings have included handguns and rifles on an indoor range, as well as skeet shooting and other shotgun sports in the outdoors.

We will arrange two to three outings to a shooting range this year, as well as some other activities. All levels of experience are welcome--as are members of all political persuasions, regardless of their position on gun control or the Second Amendment. Non-HLS friends and family are also welcome on our outings.

If you’d like to learn more about planned activities or want to be added to the mailing list, please contact us at

For 1Ls:

Welcome to the Harvard Law School! We are the HLS Target Shooters, a group comprised of everything from first time to experienced shooters. Several times a semester, we arrange trips to the shooting range, safety courses, and other fun events. Last year, the HLS Target Shooters competed in the first annual New England Collegiate Trap and Skeet competition—the first time HLS has ever fielded a competitive shooting team!

As you will soon discover, the first year of law school can be extremely stressful at times, and opportunities to escape campus can be rare. We all found that the HLS Target Shooters’ events offer a great chance to get away from campus, meet people outside of our sections, relax, and, for many, learn a new skill. You can attend as many or as few events as you want, but we hope that you’ll decide to join us on one of our outings!
