Thank you for visiting the website for the Spring 2008 Harvard Law School Women's Law Association Second Annual Alumnae Conference! The WLA is excited to continue the tradition of bringing together our many accomplished alumnae to discuss the issues that are important to future and current women lawyers. Please join us on Friday, February 22, 2008, starting in the Ropes Gray Room at 10:30 am, in welcoming 11 panelists from across the country. We would also like to extend a special welcome to our Keynote Speaker, Professor Susan Estrich, professor, author, political operative, and commentator for Fox News. Her Keynote Address will be delivered in Ropes Gray in Pound Hall at 4:30 pm.
The theme of our conference is "Breaking Down Barriers: The Past, Present and Future of Women in the Law." This theme is meant to capture the unique position in which Harvard Law women often find themselves: while they are blessed with great opportunities, they may also be subject to gender stereotypes, feel great pressure to act as examples for all women, and struggle to balance their professional and personal lives. In three panel discussions, our speakers will discuss how they have dealt with such responsibilities and, in doing so, broken through barriers that have traditionally governed the legal world.
We look forward to your participation. Please look around our website for more information.
