We offer many workshops and events every year. Even if you don't receive financial aid, we have a number of workshops such as our "Understanding Your Taxes" workshop and our financial planning sessions that might be right up your alley.
Here's what we're planning for the Fall 2008 term!
- Zuckerman/Reynolds and Soros Foundation Recruitment and Info Session
October 14th John Chipman Gray Room 2nd floor Pound at 12:00pm
This will be a joint session for the Zuckerman/Reynolds Fellowships and the Soros Foundation Fellowship program. For the Reynolds Fellowship program, individuals chosen for the award will receive full tuition for their degree program at one of Harvard's three public service graduate schools plus a stipend of $21,800. The Zuckerman Fellowship encourages students receiving their law degrees to earn an additional degree at Harvard that would assist their ability to become a public interest leader. Zuckerman Fellows receive one year of tuition and health insurance plus a $30,000 stipend. The Soros Fellowships for New Americans offers an annual tuition grant of $16,000 and a living stipend of $20,000. The Director and current recipients will answer questions about the application due 11/1/08. - Money Saving Tips...What you need to know about living in Cambridge!

Want more money in your own hand? Need some help making those dollars last? Then you'll want to come to this workshop. The employees of Student Financial Services have close to 300 collective years of experience spending money in the Cambridge metro area! Come find out how you can buy the things you want... for less! We'll also give you some basic budgeting tools to get you on your way to putting more money in your own hand and making those dollars last! There will be plenty of food and even prizes that will help you on your way towards saving money! - Identity Theft: What You Can Do To Avoid It.

This workshop will educate you on how your identity can be stolen, and how you can take actions to protect your identity and keep your name and credit in good standing. - Summer Income's Effect On My Student Contribution.

At this workshop we will review the policies about summer income and give you the tools to calculate your student contribution based on the income you expect to make during the summer of 2009. - Married Students and Students with Dependents Need Analysis Information session

Do you have questions about how your award is calculated? This workshop will explain in detail how we calculate the student contribution for married students and students with dependents. We will also explain the recent policy change that reduces the student contribution for students with working spouses. - Positive Psychology: How to Succeed and Be Happy at the Same Time.
October 30th Austin East at 12pm
Come to this fun and engaging workshop on the science of happiness. Shawn Achor has been teaching and lecturing at Harvard on positive psychology for years and his main area of research has been the legal community. Hear how you can be happier in anything you choose to do! - Personal Credit and Credit Scores: What You Need to Know!
November 5th at 12pm location TBA
This workshop will talk about what is considered good credit, what to do if you need to improve or repair your credit and how to read your credit report. Questions regarding number of credit cards and their limits will also be reviewed, and much more! Please feel free to bring a copy of your credit report which you can download for free once per year at www.annualcreditreport.com - Winter Weather Workshop!
