Program Overview
Harvard Law School has a long-standing commitment to preserving access to its J.D. program for all admitted candidates, regardless of family financial strength. Admissions decisions are made regardless of ability to pay. Any student with financial concerns is encouraged to apply for financial assistance.
Financial Aid Program policies are set by a Financial Aid Committee consisting of representatives from the faculty, student body, and administration. The staff of the Financial Aid Office implements these policies under the general direction of the Director of Financial Aid and the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid. All aid programs described in this web site depend on the availability and allocation of funds to support them. The Law School reserves the right to change the terms and guidelines for the various aid programs at any time in order to make the best use of funds available.
Students are encouraged to visit the Financial Aid Office to discuss financial concerns any time during the year. We are happy to assist you with the application process, understanding financial aid policies, estimating loan repayment, seeking outside resources, or even personal budget planning. The Financial Aid staff is committed to assisting you as much as possible as you pursue your law degree. It is our hope that you will find this web site helpful as you plan ahead for the upcoming year.
