An introduction to the history of law and legal institutions in England from
the Anglo-Saxons to the seventeenth century. The principal focus will be on
the development of private law. No previous background in English legal
history will be assumed. A short paper is required and the exam is

Note: Expected to be omitted in 2015–16.
